Many of our Academy learners are about to sit their first computer-based certification exam. Most of them worry about the same things, and most of those worries disappear once they know the process.
Check-in takes about 15 minutes
The proctor checks your ID against your registration, takes a photograph and asks you to sign. Some testing networks also use a palm vein scanner. You then store your belongings in a locker and turn out your pockets. This is routine and the same for everyone.
The testing room
You are seated at an assigned, partitioned workstation with noise-cancelling headphones and a note board. The proctor starts your exam and you will usually see a short tutorial before the first question. The tutorial time does not count against the exam.
If something goes wrong
Technical problems are rare, but if your screen freezes or the network drops, raise your hand. The proctor will pause where possible and document the issue for the testing network.
After the exam
Many exams show a provisional pass or fail on screen. You collect a printed score report at the desk before leaving. Official certification follows from the certification owner, usually within a few days to a few weeks.
Always read the rules in your exam confirmation email, and if you are one of our learners, ask your trainer anything we have not covered here.
